Voting is the fundamental basic right of an American citizen. However, once a prisoner or ex-convict Is found guilty of a crime that basic right is taken away. Whether a petty crime or very serious they cannot vote. Many argue that if the criminal justice system is created to reform criminals and they are let out of prison then why cant they be trusted to put their voice in the future leaders of the united states. Some also argue that when they are given some of all their civil rights it is allowing them to contribute to the common good of the country increasing good behavior. Having said that, prisoners and ex-convicts should be allowed to vote.
Shoud prisoners an dex-convicts be able to vote?
