Session Themes
Weeks 4-5 – Trends and Innovations
By now, you are highly capable of evaluating the differences between classical and modern thought in the field of entrepreneurial finance. It is important to develop the ability to assess the literature and identify trends that may exist. As a scholar-practitioner, your ability to analyze data and to propose a course of action is essential for your business success.
During the next 2 weeks, you will continue to collaborate with your class colleagues as you assess current trends and innovations in entrepreneurial finance; this activity will likely provide you with insights into the future of the industry. As you analyze the literature, be sure to formulate your own conclusions, and identify areas for new research in the field of entrepreneurial finance.
By the end of Week 5, you will be able to:
? Assess current trends and innovations in the field of entrepreneurial finance
? Synthesize conclusions and outcomes of literature in the field of entrepreneurial finance
? Identify opportunities for new research in entrepreneurial finance
Group Leader Discussion Presentation Format
In addition to synthesizing the literature, each Group Leader should evaluate the literature for gaps and propose a research topic with an annotated bibliography in a PowerPoint presentation. You are encouraged to include audio clips in your PowerPoint in order to practice your presentation skills and enhance the effectiveness of your message, but this is not required. Please review Web sites that offer tips on creating an effective PowerPoint presentation such as the one found in the Supplemental Resources for Week 1. Include Speaker Notes for slide explanations and to provide supporting information.
In the event that there are two or more Group Leaders within a single discussion group, those individuals should each select a separate topic of interest, post respective titles for the presentations by Day 3 of weeks 2,4,or 6, and submit distinct (separate) presentations by the end of Day 7 of the 1st week of the session.
