● Abstract: a paragraph of about 250 words that (1) summarizes the main points of agreement and disagreement among the research studies you’ve reviewed and (2) provides a overview of your proposal for further research or a plan of action.

● Introduction: a discussion of the research question that your paper explores, concluding with the thesis of the paper (a summary of how or to what extent the research answers your main question, and a brief description of your proposal in response to the research);

● Synthesis: body paragraphs that compare the different articles you have reviewed, identifying specific points of comparison, rather than simply summarizing the articles;

● Proposal: body paragraphs that either (1) suggest areas for further research, concerning issues that have not been fully explored in the research you’ve reviewed, or (2) recommend changes to public policy in response to the research you’ve reviewed;

● Conclusion: a paragraph summarizing your synthesis of the research and explaining the outcomes that will result from the recommendations you’ve made in the second half of the body of the paper.

Each body paragraph needs to be developed through frequent cited references to the articles under review. Most of the paragraphs in the first section of the body will need to cite at least two sources because these paragraphs need to concentrate primarily on points of agreement and disagreement. When you present your proposal in the second section of the body, remember to refer to specific characteristics of the research or findings from the research to justify your recommendation. Also, remember that this proposal must be distinct from the proposals given by the researchers themselves. You can discuss their recommendations in reviewing the research, but you must present ideas of your own.
