It may seem self-evident that after the horrors of World War I the issue of beauty was no longer relevant in the avant-garde efforts of artist like Duchamp, Picabia, Arp, Grosz, Dix, etc.. but, consider Roger Scruton’s article on beauty and attempt to render a verdict on the issue. In other words, is Scruton’s idea irrelevant when it comes to dada or does it apply to the dada era as well?
