Rhetorical Strategies, Fallacies and First-Year Writing

Context:

The Writing Program has decided to create a mentoring program whereby exiting first year students write to incoming freshmen about the writing program.

Audience:
An incoming freshmen from your former high school that is nervous about their writing skills and is terrified of taking these classes.

Purpose:
Convince the student that
1. they are capable of passing these classes if they work hard and make use of campus resources
2. these classes will help them with the rest of their academic and professional career
Be sure to use some of the rhetorical strategies and fallacies we have analyzed this semester in order to convey your message.
