The purpose of this essay is to assess the merits and limits to R2P based on the thesis I am trying to go with below.

The Responsibility to Protect (R2P): Is R2P a weapon used by the West (meaning America and its allies) to enforce western imperialism or is it a doctrine of longevity meant to service human security? Use the 2011 War in Libya as a case study

Is there selective application of the doctrine?

Is it problematic that R2P should be used universally?

Focus on the War in Libya in 2011 and tie it into R2P: how NATO use R2P for the first time to justify intervention into Libya
Talk about how R2P seems better on paper then it practice
Talk about he future of R2P, and how it can be seen more than just a ploy for western imperialism but as a great doctrine for human security and protection.
