On the first half of the novel (from 1 to chapter 15) I analysed the novel from a psychoanalytic point of view.
Now that you’ve read the entire novel, please write a 500-word response in which you consider whether or not you still want to read the novel through the lens of the theory you used for response 4. If so, what does the novel do from the perspective of your theory? If not, why not? And what do you think the novel means from the perspective of another theory? Use the “Using Literary Theory” guide from the packet to help you. You can also use your notes from our class discussion on using theory to help. Finally, make sure your response begins with an introduction in which you state your point (what the text seems to be saying so far from the perspective of your theory), a body consisting of a few paragraphs in which you prove your point with quotes and evidence (linking the language of the text to the theory and its language), and a conclusion.
Keep in mind that beginning with this Response, I will grade you according to the higher standards for Response 5-8 as outlined on the Response Writing Guide. In other words, I’ll grade the quality of the argument as well as the structure of your response.
