Research Sources Requirements:

2-3, minimum, research sources required. These must fall within these parameters: OCC Library Catalog or Databases, Reference Section—Specialized Encyclopedias, not General. No web sources. No films.

Paper Requirements:

Length / Format: 5 full pages, typed, double-spaced, in MLA format, plus a Works Cited page. Any paper short 5•
full pages + a WC page will not pass.

Essay Form: •
o An introductory paragraph that establishes context and offers a thesis that advances one’s opinion of
similarities.
o An organized set of body paragraphs that address the three categories listed and explain shared
characteristics with “Allegory of the Cave”.o An intriguing and memorable conclusion.

Research: Incorporate quotes from “Allegory of the Cave” and quotes/paraphrases from research sources.•

MLA Format: Accurate, introduced and cited quoting/paraphrasing is used. A WC page in MLA format.•

Prose Quality: Generally well-written, college-level prose. Editing for spelling, grammar and capitalization.•

Style: Prior style concepts (key words, transitions, extenders). Additionally, dramatic sentences and new punctuation concepts used.•

Point of View: 3rd person point of view. No “I” or “you”.•
