Salon Prep-work: Research paper and discussion/activity plan (Mass media communication)

The goal of the prep work is to make sure that you will be able to actively lead a small group discussion. During your salon week you will do in-depth research on a narrower sub-topic related to the overall topic for the week (i.e. if you are salon leader during the small group/org communication week, you might want to research leadership in small businesses). Weekly salon leaders will be responsible for working together to make sure multiple people don’t cover the exact same topic.

You will write an informal research paper that you will use to focus the small group discussion portion of this assignment. The paper needs to contain 3 specific things:

1. a summary of your research (2-3 full pages, probably more, double-spaced)
2. a bibliography of the sources you used in that research (there are no minimum requirements, these can include some or all of the in-class texts/online texts but your research should be primarily from outside sources).

3. a list of questions, discussions prompts, activity ideas, etc. that you will use to lead a 20 minute discussion with a small group of your peers (there is no minimum number of questions but this would be better to over-prepare than to under-prepare … running out of material before the time is up won’t do your grade any favors). Questions should be open-ended and thought provoking, and substantive enough to generate extended discussion. Make sure you can answer your own questions.

******For this assignment, the topic should be based on ”Mass-Media Communicaiotn”, so the research should be about mass media communication and you should also think about what should presented in the group, since I will be the leader to discuss something based on the research, and also I need to play a game with the groupmate and the game can show what the mass media communication/ what is the importance of it…
