1. Write a 1500 word essay that expands on one of your previous essays which will be Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” by exploring 2-4 total pieces by the same author, drawing on both primary and secondary sources to make a specific argument about the contribution or value of those works to wider American culture (such as the unique perspective it provides on love, nature, war, famine, gender, etc.). [Poetry papers, should be on the higher end of this range, discussing at least FOUR poems by the author.] You will need to research the author’s background and literary contributions, the major economic/political/historical aspects surrounding each text, and become relatively familiar with the major thematic and formal aspects of his/her work so that you can discuss the overall cultural value or contribution of his/her work in an intelligent and eloquent manner. Specifically, you should do the following in this essay:
1. Select any previous essay and expand it by discussing 2-4 total pieces by the same author.
