Renaissance
Order Description
“Art mattered in the Renaissance. People expected painting, sculpture, architecture, and other forms of visual arts to have a meaningful effect on their lives, delighting and enticing them into holding or maintaing certain beliefs and engaging in specific behaviours.” (Paoletti &Radke, 1997) Assess Paoletti and Radke’s idea that art was directly involved in the shaping of Renaissance society. Focus on a maximum of three key works and through a study of their visual qualities and particular histories explain why art “mattered” in the Renaissance. (Footnotes required in the paper)
