Remote sensing

Remote sensing
Remote sensing is a technique used to obtain information about something without actually having to come in physical contact with the subject. GIS stands for Geographic Information System and it is a tool to help store, analyze and display spatial data. The field of natural disasters research and recovery benefits from geospatial techniques. Your task is to investigate and report on the role that GIS and remote sensing has played in helping with mitigation and recovery efforts for ONE recent disaster. Your report should be about 200 words. Here are some ideas to get you started (note that you are not limited to these choices, you can select any recent disaster i.e. within last 10 years): Gulf of Mexico BP oil spill of 2010, the Haiti earthquake of 2010, the Japan quake of 2011, wildfire risk assessment?
