Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships are important for children because for children they will directly affect how children form their sense of belonging.it will also affect the children’s identity and whether they will feel protected, safe and supported. For, children to feel safe, they need strong attachments with educators. Teachers of children will, therefore, need to devise ways of establishing such relationships as they teach the child.

Research shows that the relationship between children and educators impacts on the learning outcome and also affects the child’s future relations with educators.

For example, a teacher who spends time to attach themselves to every child understands them and the children feel valued, hence they make a productive relationship. The outcome is that the child succeeds.

Another example is when a teacher bonds with all the children in the class. This reflects directly on the class performance.

The pedagogical strategy that should be employed by teachers is to acknowledge that they have different individuals in the classroom even though they are all children. Teachers also consider the different abilities, strengths and needs of the children and address them accordingly.
