Write a letter to the group of people you identify yourself as a member of (in the style of Anne Braden’s letter to white women, or James Baldwin’s letter to Angela Davis).

In this letter, write about current events in the United States and their connection to whiteness. Discuss how you see who benefits from whiteness, white privilege, and/or white supremacy– and why this matters. And/or you can write about what structures and/or institutions you see as upholding whiteness, white privilege and/or white supremacy–and how they do this. Finally, you should suggest ideas for how individuals, groups of people, structures or institutions of whiteness can or should change. This last component is the most important part of the assignment!
