Students must submit the historical topic paper no later than Sunday by midnight at the end of week six. You must use APA, MLA or CHICAGO format. APA, MLA formatted papers must included in-text citations within the body of the work to cite the sources and they must include a reference page. If using Chicago format, you must use footnotes and include a reference page. The short paper needs to be turned in through the assignment section for grading. If you use any of the information from your sources word-for-word, you must cite; however do not use quotes if you must a minimum of two short quotes are what can be used. Also, if you read the information and write it in your own words and it is not common knowledge, then you must cite the source because you are paraphrasing someone’s information.
The short paper must include a cover page with your name, course number and course title, instructor’s name, and date. You must also include a reference page at the end of your paper. While composing your paper, use proper English. Do not use abbreviations, contractions, passive voice, or first/ second person (I, you, we, our, etc). Before submitting your paper, check your grammar and use spell check. Remember, the way you talk is not the way you write a paper.
Please remember this is a formal paper and not informal like your forum; therefore your paper MUST include in-text citations within the body of your paper (APA or MLA) or footnotes (Chicago) to cite it and you must also include the references on the reference page. Examples are attached of each format.
Keep in mind your papers MUST be uploaded under the Assignment tab. Papers will not be accepted that are sent via email.
