I HAVE CHANGED THE ELECTRONIC DEADLINE TO 12:01 TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR WRIST WATCHES BEING 2 MINUTES OFF. DO NOT USE THESE EXTRA MINUTES. DO NOT MISINTERPRET THIS TO MEAN THAT THE ASSIGNMENT IS NOW DUE ON THURSDAY–THE DEADLINE HAS NOT CHANGED
Thanks, friends–see you Friday!
PART V: WORKSHOP DRAFT + SELF-EVALUATION LETTER (4% of course grade)
FORM: This assignment consists of the following two parts:
First, the most recent draft of your Informed Argument. Please list your genre and your intended audience at the top of the page. This draft should be as complete and finalized as possible, although it is acceptable to still have questions you need help with before making final revisions. It should be at least 4 pages. You will upload this draft on Canvas rather than turning in a hard copy.
Second, a letter addressed to the members of your class in which you perform a rhetorical analysis of your current draft. You will upload a copy of it to Canvas The letter should be approximately 1 page (single-spaced, 12 pt. font), and should address the following points:
Who is your audience? How are you attempting to utilize pathos and logos to appeal to that audience?
How do you want your readers to perceive you as a writer? What kind of ethos are you hoping to establish, and how are you attempting to establish that ethos? In what areas do you need help to achieve the ethos you’re after?
What genre of essay are you attempting to use? In what ways do you feel you are meeting the conventions of that genre well, and in what ways do you need help?
Look carefully at the rubric. In what areas do you feel your draft is falling short of the expectations for this assignment?
EXPECTATIONS: The draft will be graded on completion (make sure it is at least 4 pages). The letter will be graded on the thoroughness of your answers to the above questions; you are also expected to write formally and concisely (you are welcome to write in the first person). Your grammar choices should adhere to the standards of academic English.
