Each student will write a major paper (15-20 pages excluding cover and references) on a topic related to one of the main themes of the course. Topics will be submitted to me for feedback and approval on or before July 1
The topic should concern a current ethical issue in Public Administration or a modern theorist. In either case the focus should be on the bureaucratic implications of the issue or model. Some examples include:
Watergate
Specific cases of whistle blowers
Specific cases of Lobbyists
The mixed loyalties of appointees
Secrecy in government – the need for security versus the need for transparency
Conflict of Interest laws
Sunshine laws
The media
Feel free to submit another topic outside of these suggestions. Just make sure it has a clear tie to the subject of this course.
