It is also important to note that while several media examples included in this course are of convicted murderers, this is not characteristic behavior for the majority of Personality Disorders, rather, these individuals are included because the gained makes them good case examples).

Does the individual presented in the video meet criteria for Schizoid Personality Disorder? What aspects does he meet and which criteria does he not meet? What other diagnosis does the individual potentially meet criteria for (a personality disorder or another mental health disorder)? Criticize him as an appropriate example of Schizoid Personality Disorder (in other words, why is this person a bad example of this disorder).

Following your original post, you must respond to one other student (a minimum of 100 words). Your response must identify why the chosen example for that week does not meet criteria for the Personality Disorder diagnosis that was given by the original student and suggest an alternative secondary diagnosis. (Diagnosing is an art and a science and there is tremendous overlap amongst disorders. Even if you agree with another student, you should be capable of taking a devil’s advocate position and outlining why a diagnosis could be incorrect and suggesting an alternative diagnosis.)
