As we were required to do a site visiting, We went to Prince Mohammad Bin AbdulAziz Hospital, Which it is a governmental hospital built in the year of 2013 to serve the eastern side of capital city Riyadh, it Is a secondary and tertiary hospital center that affords almost 500 beds, it serves health care as well as health care education for visitors. It is considered one of the governmental hospitals that was built by ministry of health to also welcome healthcare students and provide them with excellent education and treatment if needed. The hospital is considered new so it utilizes the health informatics widely, you rarely can see traditional methods.

The hospital uses a software called Citrix. We picked the nursing station as our site of knowledge because it is where the system is mainly used.
Citrix system, or systems, is a broad name for American company that creates and supplies servers,applications, and software technologies and even network for large associations, governmental and private sectors such as, health sectors.

In Prince Mohammad hospital, Citrix system is basically the hospital but in a computerized way, meaning that, it is where all the information of patients, and their needs are stored, retrieved, and used. It is a complete private site in which you need to be authorized in order to gain access, using your own user name and password.This security in mandatory because the site has all the patients informations.

The Citrix widely helped in providing health care, the main benefits are:
1- Organizing the health care informations
2- Facilitates the role of providers and organize their work as how described in the system
3- Saves time wasted in searching for patient’s medical record, in which by a “click” all the files in the hospital are shown.
4- It helps keeping critically ill patients under continuous monitoring by putting them in
“urgent patient” file.
5- The patients records are organized according to the departments, for example, “OR” file is for patients whom are pre or post Operation.
6- it helped decreasing the healthcare mistakes dramatically as everything about patients is described, stored and easily accessed, so chance of mistaking other patient, or forgetting patient’s informations is very low.
7- decreased the malpractice as there are many training files for Providers.

The system is provided in all the computers in the hospital, and you must be a healthcare provider working for same hospital in order to gain access to the system , using your own user name and password, for the sake of patient’s data protection.
The system is used in Nursing station,ICU, and all the departments, the health providers use it to find what is new in hospital, what kind of new training is provided, how to follow the hospital plans carefully, such as fire alarm, code blue, code white…etc.
Also it is were the Nurses work mostly organizing the patients information according to their conditions using the Cerner file which has all the patients records.

The Citrix system has many functions such as:
1- acquisition,storing, retrieval of information
2- integrated several hospital department
3- physician order entry
4- electronic medical records
5- providing work remotely

The system is used by all the authorized employees in the hospital , but mainly it is used by Doctors and Nurses.
External parties are not allowed to use the system, and if they wanted to,they have to have an authorization, open it using existing username and password of health provider under the supervision of the same health provider and not allowed to view the Cerner , which is were the patients medical records located.
The Health providers before using the system must go through training of how to use it , the training is provided in the system it self , not only that , but also it is a continuous training and education , in which any new file or new update will have its own training profile.
