Given your understanding of the steps required for an activity analysis (see below), prepare a 10-15 slide PowerPoint presentation to be presented in Lab I. Choose one of the following activities: Baking a cake, Getting Dressed, Playing Basketball.
Step 1: Define the activity: What are we going to analyze? Decide on how you will divide of the parts of his job so that you can analyze them accurately.
Step 2: List the steps of the activity- Write out the steps he must follow in order to successfully complete each activity or task. You may have several lists, one for each separate activity.
Step 3: Objects, properties, space and social demands: What are the objects, materials, equipment that he must use?
Step 4: Required body functions: What mental, physical, neurological, and other body functions are utilized and challenged during the activities he must perform?
Step 5: Required body structures: What parts of the body are required to complete the activities?
Step 6: Performance skills: What motor, praxis, sensory, emotional, cognitive and communication/social skill level is needed to complete the activities?
Step 7: Analysis for intervention: How do his contexts play a role in success? How can the activity be adapted to allow for success? Are there areas that can be identified as possible outcomes for intervention?
