Preparation Outline for the Informative Speech
Preparation Outline for Informative Speech
Please create a preparation outline for your informative speech. Remember the outline should have a thesis statement, introduction, body and conclusion with main points and sub points. Also remember that the outline should have consistent symbolization (alpha/numeric only) and indentation. Finally remember that your outline should have at least five references, three of your references must be from academic/peer reviewed sources. Feel free to use the library databases and/or google scholar to find these kinds of sources. Your outline should be for a 3-5 minute speech that answers the following questions:
Your name
Attention Getter
The purpose of the speech thesis statement
At least three main points you would like to tell us about the topic
Main reason you want your audience to know about this topic
i. Details about this reason
ii. Supporting evidence
2.Second reason you want your audience to know about this topic
i. Details about this reason
ii. Supporting evidence
3. Third reason you want your audience to know about this topic
i. Details about this reason
ii. Supporting evidence .
Conclusion
Summarizing what youve shared
i. Main reason a
ii. Main reason b
iii. Main reason c
Powerful ending

This is your preliminary outline. Though your topic cannot change feel free to massage and manipulate the other elements of the outline. It is quite possible that while you are doing your research other ideas for your main points, subpoints and conclusion might change.
Here is a sample of an informative speech outline. Remember, no need to include general purpose, specific purpose, reason to listen, credibility statement or transitions:

There is also a sample of a format that can be used for the informative speech in Blackboard under Course Documents. That document is called Sample Persuasive Speech Outline.
Remember again, no need for specific purpose or transitions.

Outline for informative speech
Topic : Homelessness in New York
General-purpose
The purpose of the speech is to address the menace regarding homelessness in New York City. The city has many residents living in the streets, which can affect their social and health. The need to have human dignity has led to increased demand for a better living structure to alleviate the challenges being faced by the homelessness in New York City.
Specific purpose
The purpose is to reduce the level of homelessness in New York City. This calls for a better understanding of the situation and having collaborative efforts towards helping the homeless.
Thesis
Homelessness is a significant challenge in New York. Its major causes are existing economic hardship, making individuals unable to afford rent, and increased mental disorder rates (Schreiber & Hartranft, n.d.). Also, substance abuse has contributed to an increased level of homelessness. The significant challenges facing homeless individuals are the inability to afford quality health, socio-economic challenges, and increased chances of suffering from sexual assault.
Main Points
Homelessness poses a significant challenge among the residents of New York. The number of individuals living in shelters is estimated to be sixty thousand (Nunez, 2014). The number living in the streets stand at three thousand. The number is likely to rise because of the massive loss of jobs after the pandemic. Also, there are economic surges that are likely to pose a significant challenge to New York City residents. The resultant effect is an increased rate of homelessness, leading to increased suffering among the affected. There is a need for governing agencies to have concerted efforts that will reduce the menace. There is a close link between the homeless and the poor state of health (Nunez, 2014). The homeless failed to have a health insurance cover that increases their medical liability since they cannot afford the associated premium costs.
Conclusion
Homelessness is one of the key social problems in New York City. The government, with the help of other non-government agencies, should work tirelessly to reduce the levels of homelessness within the city.
