Pop projections
Order Description
Okanogan county is the county the research is for.
Describe the population changewhen did the county reach its largest population?
Population projections can be made on past population change, going back ten, twenty, or thirty years, and using real change (regression) or the rate of change (% change) of population over those time periods to project new populations in the future. Based on class notes, use these six techniques to project six different populations for 2020 and 2030. Create a histogram that shows data from 1980 to 2010 by decade, and a second that begins with 2010 and shows the population projections for each of these techniques. Write a report that describes these projections.
Compare and contrast these projections with We will discuss cohort survival (Assignment 14) in class, but each of you will need to go to the Washington State Office of Financial Management (OFM) and use the 2012 Populations Projections under GMA for your County.
Based on your six projections and Figure, how do your projections match with the OFM projection and range (high, low) for your county? Compare and contrast your projections with OFMs. Describe differences or similarities. Which do you think are most likely for your countys future? Why?
To get there google WA State OFM. Then in their Population Section (left center of page) click to get to population projections. The GMA Projections are on the center right menu. http://www.ofm.wa.gov/pop/ (Links to an external site.)

Scroll down on this page until you see 2012 projections and click.
At this page there are several detailed versions of population projections. Please review these for detail, but for the general graph to compare with your projections, click on 2012 County Projection Graphs. Get the graph for your county to compare. You should be able to copy or do a print screen to get a copy of this graph for your report. Cut and paste or input into your Assignment Word File. Complete the assignment.
