Term Paper: You are expected to write a 5-page (excluding cover page and reference page) term paper for this class. It has to be double spaced, font Times New Roman and size 12. Please pick an event from any country (other than the US) and use a theory from the textbook (rational choice, psychological theory, political culture, political ideology, institutionalism, pluralist theory, elite theory, etc.) to explain the event. The event has to be contemporary, i.e. after World War II, and not an international relations event. Please try to use information beyond the textbook. I expect at least five different sources of information that are based on academic research (e.g. books and academic journal articles). Web information is acceptable but please use the more authoritative sources. Wikipedia is not an acceptable online source for the paper.

Describe the event you have picked and ask a research question based on your description (i.e. what you want to know about this event). For example, why the actors in this event behave the way they behaved. Avoid asking speculative questions (such as

past political events. 3. Briefly describe the theory you choose to use. 4. Apply the theory to the event, i.e. using theory to explain the event. 5. Conclusion. 6. List of information sources. 7. You may use any format for the footnotes to document the sources of information.
