Essay 1 Prompt:

“A fictional newspaper article talks about a research study that found a significant positive correlation between people who like the color red and memory performance. The title of the article read, ‘Liking the Color Red Causes Better Memory.’

Write an essay that explains why the title of the article is incorrect. In your essay, describe in detail how you would design a double-blind research study to test if liking the color red causes better memory. State what your IV is along with stating your control group and experimental group, also include what your DV is, and then thoroughly describe how you would conduct your experiment as a double-blind experiment.”
Please note: reading the chapter and module will give you enough information to write this essay! You will not need to seek out any other information from outside sources in order to understand how to write this essay. If you think that you do need to find outside sources, please go back and re-read your chapter and module because you are missing comprehending some essential information.

Hint 1: don’t try to look up extra research on people who like the color red and having a better memory, etc… your essay has nothing to do with that! Hint

2: This is a fictional newspaper article title, so don’t try to find it, as it doesn’t exist! Hint

3: There is a word in the fictional newspaper article title that if you read you chapter and module thoroughly, will jump out at you as being an incorrect usage of that word given what you know about correlations and experiments.
