Plato’s Phaedrus.

Plato’s Phaedrus.

Order Description

Build a defense of writing as if you were entering into a dialogue with the characters from Plato’s Phaedrus. Take into consideration the objections to writing raised in the dialogue before devising a response of your own. You can approach this as a traditional paper with a main idea stated upfront and quotations from the text, OR you can take a more creative route and re-write the dialogue. If you choose the latter option, you have to really get into it and recreate the scene to include you as a character. You can imagine yourself as the king’s adviser, a visitor from the future, or whatever you want in order to incorporate your voice into the dialogue. Your key arguments in defense of writing still have to be clear, regardless of the approach you choose.
