Pick any 2 TV shows (has to be AT LEAST 20 years apart) and analyze the difference between them:

How do the changes in the content and style of the program reflect a broader change in our society and/or trends in the genre, commercial, creative, technological and/or governmental aspects of broadcasting / media history?

Example: The Flinstones vs. The Simpsons
(There are more examples in the attached essay instructions document.)

Alternatively, you can also compare 2 TV shows with a cross-cultural adaptation of a series across borders and what that reveals about key differences in the two countriesÂ’ culture, media business and production practices and / or audience expectations:

Why do some shows succeed in some markets and not others? Be careful not to take a glib glance of two cultures (e.g. Canadians are all polite). US adaptations of English Canadian shows and vice versa (e.g. Dragons Den and Shark Tank) are NOT allowed.
