1)Please chose one photo by either Lewis Hine or Dorothea Lange as the primary example for an essay in which you  1) explain the social goals of their works; 2) relate these goals to the specific image through careful visual analysis; 3) show your knowledge of the readings (especially Rosler) AND lectures/discussions concerning the strengths and limitations of the use of photography as an instrument for social change.
2)2. Please chose two surrealist photographs from lectures (they maybe by the same photographer) as your primary examples for an essay in which you 1) summarize the main ideas covered in the lecture and 2) thoroughly relate the images to the ideals espoused by Breton in the First Manifesto of Surrealism.
