draft=5 pages, final essay=10 pages (excluding references), typed using 1.5 or double spacing, 12-point font. Include a title, subheadings, page numbers, your name. References should be prepared according to the Chicago Style for Citations.

Assessment: Total points=100 (see the grading matrix)
The paper will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
(a) Pertinence (Demonstrate an understanding of the issues): The literature reviewed is relevant, accurate, and current. Citations are used to substantiate presentations of ideas and issues.
(b) Purposefulness (critical thinking): The paper identifies central ideas and follows them throughout the paper. The paper develops with a clear sense of introduction, purpose, development, and conclusion. The argument shows critical thinking such as suggesting logical, problem solving solutions.
(c) Organization and use of concepts: The paper includes key course concepts and terms to support solutions and conclusions. These are organized into clear sections demarcated by headings and paragraph divisions. The heading organization is consistent with the purpose of the paper.
(d) Writing Style & Grammar: Formal, scientific writing style is used with correct grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation.
The draft essay must include the following elements:
Your topic and title
Explanation for the relevance of your selected topic
Your key argument – summarized into 2 paragraphs
Two ways to support your argument (evidence, examples, theory)
Content outline – i.e. essay outlined using sub-headings with rough notes sketched out for each section
At least 5 different sources/references
