This assignment is based on research . It is not simply an expression of your opinion. A persuasive essay requires you to investigate a topic by conducting research, evaluating evidence; and establishing a position based on what you have learned. Each claim in your thesis should be supported by reliable evidence. The goal is to persuade a reader to adopt a certain point of view. The argument should use sound reasoning and solid evidence by stating facts, giving logical reasons, using examples, and quoting experts. Remember to avoid logical fallacies as discussed in the Blog. This week, you will draft your persuasive essay, and submit it as a graded assignment in week three. After submitting your draft, you will revise it and submit a final essay in week four. Revision should be based on the skills you have acquired over the past weeks, the revision checklist, and feedback received from one or more of the following sources: your instructor, SmarThinking, the OWL or your campus writing lab. Choose one of the following Writing Suggestions (or you may use one of the suggestions on page 250 in the textbook Write Now).
