Personal Leadership Portfolio
Personal Leadership Portfolio (Due Week 8)
Throughout this course, you will be expected to develop a portfolio that represents your thoughts, perspectives and goals related to your own leadership development. This portfolio will be both shared with the class and submitted for a grade. Your portfolio must include the following:
A statement expressing your passions and interests; causes or issues which you believe require visionary and active leadership, perhaps your own. Explain why these interests are important to you. What was the origin of your interest in these issues, what has been your experience or involvement with these issues, and what drives your ongoing passion in these issues? (minimum 3 paragraphs)
A statement of your personal ethics and values that you feel are essential to ethical leadership. What do you believe is the right way to lead? What qualities should an ethical leader strive to demonstrate? What would ethical leadership look like to you? (minimum 3 paragraphs)
A resource list that includes at least one of EACH of the following:
People (from the course materials or elsewhere)
Media (i.e. films, videos from class our elsewhere),
Experiences (either your own or ones you have witnessed or read about)
Theories (from our readings),
Strategies (from our readings)
And includes:
5 scholarly, peer-reviewed articles (from academic sources other than our course readings)
2 scholarly books (other than our course text)
that you find to be motivational, inspirational, and useful as you pursue your own leadership excellence. For each item in the list, include a brief paragraph explaining what makes this resource inspirational and useful for you, and how you will apply the information in your leadership development journey. (minimum 2 pages)
A personal leadership development action plan, wherein you identify key skills, behaviors, attitudes or knowledge you believe you need to acquire to improve your own leadership and what you plan to do to acquire this. What concrete steps will you take to acquire the tools you need? (minimum 3 pages)
