Pedagogical Statement about INDIGENOUS EDUCATION
*Purpose:
As one of the Australian Curriculum’s cross-curriculum priorities is ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures’ this assessment provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of this teaching requirement. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the importance of embedding Indigenous perspectives in units of work and the ATSIL standards relating to Indigenous students
*Process:
Students are to provide a 500 word pedagogical statement on the importance of embedding Indigenous perspectives in units of work. This statement should be supported by referred literature and linked to the relevant AITSL requirements.
*Assessment guide
-The statement is clear and coherent and makes reference to practices and theories as presented in the unit
-Culturally appropriate and meets Indigenous protocols
-Demonstration of understanding of key issues
-Succinct discussion on why teachers should embed Indigenous perspectives in units of work
-The relevant AITSL standard(s) is/are provided and an outline of why it/they apply
*Addresses learning outcome(s):
1. apply Indigenous education perspectives to Western education practices;
2. consider the educational needs of Indigenous students;
3. extend their appreciation of Indigenous Australian cultures as a basis on which to develop their own teaching.

*This is a PEDAGOGICAL STATEMENT for my Indigenous education class. I’m taking education degree for secondary. I could not find this type in all of your option so I chose essay.
