Paper Four
Soc 110
Fall 2015
From thinking sociologically in general to examining particular instances of social injustice to finally exploring how social change takes place, this course has covered a broad spectrum of topics. This final paper is intended to be a space for you to reflect on the course as a whole and consider which aspects of it might “stick with you.”
The paper should be at least three pages in length and include the following components:
• From your perspective as a student what was this course about?
o If you had to summarize the class for someone else, what would you say?
• Which reading or section of readings resonated most with you?
o Summarize the reading/section.
o Explain what was useful, interesting, or significant about it.
• How will you carry the work we’ve done this semester into your future?
o What do you want to do in the future?
? What kind of life do you want to have? What kind of person do you want to be? What kind of work do you want to do (in general or specific to a chosen career)?
? How might some of the topics we’ve covered in this course relate to your goals and activities in the future?
o Be specific and use examples or ideas from readings or class.
The paper is due to me via email on December 3rd by 5 pm. It should respond to all parts of the prompt and be formatted properly: double-spaced, size 12 times new roman font, and one-inch margins. Papers turned in late will drop a letter grade for each additional day.
Additionally, be sure to clearly reference and properly cite at least two assigned readings from the course in your paper. You are welcome to use materials not assigned in class, but be sure to verify their credibility (they are from accredited news sources or academic journals). You must use ASA formatting for your reference page and in-text citations.
