complete an indepth organizational study and present it in class. You will analyze an organizational phenomenon (activity, practices, or issue like those analyzed in Part III of the textbook) from one or more theoretical perspectives (presented in Part II of the textbook). You may analyze, for example, external and internal communication strategies, image management strategies, decision making styles, emotional labor, organizational alignment, and power relations or politics in one or more organizations where you can some do fieldwork (e.g., naturalistic/ethnographic observation and interviews) or have more intimate personal experience to gather information. Your analysis should result in a 7-to-10-page paper. Each of you will be given 3 minutes to present your project highlights in the class. Review the textbooks appendix for tips about studying organizational communication (pp. 315-324). A detailed guide to the paper is given separately.
