Keep a record of everything you eat or drink for 2 consecutive days (Since this is a shortened session). Use ONE of these days (choose one that is most representative of your typical diet) for the analysis activity. Go to http: http://www.choosemyplate.gov Under “ONLINE TOOLS” select SUPERTRACKER Click on “Create your Profile” Now create your profile. Add name, age, gender. activity, height and weight. Scroll down to see step 2 to register your profile with an email. Click on food tracker. Search for food category such as beverages, bread & cereals, meat, fruit etc and then type in specific food. On the left side, a quantity box will show up. Be specific. Also check off a meal box and click “+ADD” You will see your food added, keep going back to the search box and add all foods and beverages for the day. You will see all the info compiled for you. For the paper, look at the box titled “Daily Food Groups” (see upper right hand box) Assignment 3 is based on your following answers to these questions. Type your answers to the following questions: USE COMPLETE SENTENCES. ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS- *****Which food groups have you satisfied?” Which ones are under the recommendations? What are some of the reasons why you may be lacking some of the food groups? What are some strategies to improve your low food groups? Look at the box titled “Your Daily Calorie Limit” ******What is your calorie recommendation? What number did you receive? How does it compare to the recommendation? What are some strategies for improvement to reduce or improve? See the very tiny “Related Links” under the bar chart graph and click on “Nutrition Intake Report”, see the top to PRINT “nutrient intakes†page using PDF, Excel or Word. Answer these questions: What percentage of the total calories is coming from fat (total fat) and saturated fat? What is the recommendation on this? What are the comparisons of cholesterol and sodium? How does your intake compare with recommendations for carbohydrates, protein, and dietary fiber? Did you meet all of the nutritional recommendations for vitamins and minerals? If not, which nutrients do you need more of? List what foods contain the minerals, vitamins and nutrients you are lacking. (use your text or other resources). Offer strategies to introduce these researched foods into your diet. Are you satisfied with your overall diet? (write a complete answer!) What improvements do you need to make, if any? Offer some specific suggestions (like an action plan) to improve or maintain your diet. Give SPECIFIC examples of how you can introduce lacking nutrients into your daily food intake.
