Nutrition and Physical Activity

Analyze your nutritional health and make a plan for your future!

1. Go to http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm or another site you would prefer to use, like the app My Fitness Pal. Calculate your BMI and (using the three bears approach) determine if you are underweight and need to gain weight, overweight and need to lose weight, or, just right so you need to maintain your current weight. You may not decide to grow taller or shrink as an alternative to correcting this finding.
2. Go to https://www.supertracker.usda.gov/default.aspx , or another site you would prefer to use, and create a profile and get a plan tailored for you.
3. Write down everything you eat and drink for two weeks and enter these in Food Tracker or My Fitness Pal (or another site/app).
4. Do the same for your physical activities for two weeks in the same website or app, if possible.
5. Finally analyze your diet and physical activities. Write about your conclusions based on the app or site summaries – where are you doing well, where do you need to make changes and how to make these changes. Finally set five goals you want to make in your diet and exercise program to improve your health. Discuss ways to motivate yourself over the years to come as this activity has lifelong impacts!
