Nonprofit Management

Research at least three nonprofit organizations online or in the library. Identify their foundational documents and pay close attention to their mission statement and organizational form. How do the three organizations that you selected differ from a legal formation point of view and why do you think they chose to form the way they did?

Complete your assignment in 2–3 pages, double-spaced, citing at least three professional sources (which may include the Web sites for the organizations you selected).

2. What type of nonprofit organization should they incorporate as? What would the legal requirements, if any, be?

Case Analysis
To Incorporate or Not To – That is the Question
DUE: 20 Nov 2015

Background

A group of professional development trainers, instructors, and course developers from regional colleges and universities were invited to meet and share practices, ideas, and concerns about the current training standards and future growth in their institutions.

Within the first two years of meeting, the group realized that they were fairly unique — namely, that their work experiences, interests and personalities meshed well — and so they decided to continue meeting in order to share resources and provide them to a wider and interested audience. A group name and mission statement was created; the group then conducted a statewide survey of the interested employees within their state to measure their professional development practices and needs.

From that research, it was learned that face-to-face training was of interest and so the group began organizing and providing an annual professional development conference. For the past few years, the group has had great success with each conference with many presenters and attendees who provide positive feedback. Planning for another conference is underway as is another research project in follow-up to the original survey.
