My husband traveled to Germany from the USA to undergo ADR surgery. He unfortunately passed away 12hrs after surgery. I was never contacted by this hospital or any professional there informing me of my husbands tragic (and suspicious) demise. I had to call after 12 hours from when I had to track down info on his surgery (after 8+hrs of what was supposed to be a 4hr surgery)
only to be told “unfortunately my husband suffered the worst case scenario”
From that decistating moment, it took 2 weeks for his remains to be sent home. I’m still trying to get all his “personal effects” returned and it’s been 3 weeks to the day he passed. Why doesn’t the Organization disclose, not only the complete list of risks and actual success rate they inform patients of during their face to face consultation, any and all accurate legal policies should anyone endure this tragedy?
Seems to me they are giving selective or false information in their advertising and only informing the patient in passing as a mere formality. Official death cert has been issued, but no autopsy report yet. I was told the only way I can obtain the investigation report via Prosecutors Office is to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit.
The whole situation is suspect, and was handled in the most deplorable manner as far as a general humanitarian way.
What are, if any, my options of recourse and closure?
