MOD 3 SLP A&PII
Order Description
You will focus the content of this section of your SLP on metabolism accomplished in the body. Recall from the tutorials on your Home and Case pages, that the macromolecules that you eat are broken down by a process called catabolism. In this assignment you will investigate the physiology of catabolism in greater depth and compare the processes of cellular respiration that are accomplished by different pathways depending on whether or not oxygen is present.
Be sure to have completed your assigned readings and view all linked tutorials before you begin this assignment!
In this SLP, you will prepare a presentation in which you provide your audience with information on the following areas:
Slides 1-3: Describe the processes involved in the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins.
Slides 4-5: Discuss the energy produced from the catabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and fats. Which molecule provides the most energy when metabolized?
Slides 6-9: Use the linked tutorials on metabolism to describe the differences between anaerobic cellular respiration and aerobic cellular respiration. (Be sure to have worked through the linked tutorials on your Module 3 Home and Case pages first!) Where are these processes utilized in the body?
Slide 10: References. Be sure to cite your readings, images, and any other background materials you used to complete this assignment. If you accomplished independent research to complete this assignment, cite the additional sources that you used.
