MIS module 1

MIS module 1

Order Description

PART I: Use the Internet to identify the future trends in MIS/information technology that could be of strategic importance for businesses. Submit a 3 page report of your findings. Be sure to use either MLA or APA citation. (Missing in-paper citation and a works study page will result in a zero for your report.) The following minimum sections should be a part of your report:

1. Introduction

2. Findings/Analysis

3. Conclusion

PART II: MIS can be studied solely from a theoricial perspective. However, we also need to take a look at MIS from a quantitative perspective. Since we do not have access to MIS programs for businesses we will use Excel and Access as MIS tools for not only organizing data, but making decisions based on the results, which makes Excel and Access a decision making tool. The spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel file Ch01Ex01_U6e.xlsx (Attached above) contains records of employee activity on special projects. Open this workbook and examine the data that you find in the three spreadsheets it contains. Assess the accuracy, relevancy, and sufficiency of this data to the following people and problems.

You manage the Denver plant, and you want to know how much time your employees are spending on special projects.

You manage the Reno plant, and you want to know how much time your employees are spending on special projects.

You manage the Quota Computation project in Chicago, and you want to know how much time your employees have spent on that project.

You manage the Quota Computation project for all three plants, and you want to know the total time employees have spent on your project.

You manage the Quota Computation project for all three plants, and you want to know the total labor cost for all employees on your project.

You manage the Quota Computation project for all three plants, and you want to know how the labor-hour total for that project compares to the labor-hour totals for the other special projects.

What conclusions can you draw from this exercise?
