There are many issues being debated during this election, and unfortunately, many candidates don’t seem to remember (or understand) what they learned in principles of microeconomics decades ago. Your assignment is to prepare a short essay (3-5 pages) to help all candidates understand something you’ve learned so far AND how it relates to a common campaign issue.
Examples of issues are: increasing the minimum wage; immigration; granting citizenship to immigrants without legal status; agriculture policy towards corn production.
Your essay must clearly identify the specific issue you’ve picked to address. You must include why this issue is debated (such as why different political parties do not agree). Next, offer analysis of your issue based on what you have learned this semester (such as how supply, demand, or other curves might change). Persuade us that you have learned the material, how it relates to the topic, and what we should do (should we raise the minimum wage or not?). Your proposed solution MUST be consistent with your explanation of the material you learned in class.
