MGMT 311 Organizational Behavior
Change is at times seen as a good thing, accepted by an organization as a whole in order to benefit the organization, but at times, change can have negative consequences that can lead to the failure of a prospering company. In large organization change needs to be accepted by the majority of the company to lead to success, when the change is viewed negatively, negative actions can take place leaving management with more issues to deal with. One large corporate organization that change had a negative effect on is Hewlett Packard (HP), whose management issues have left the company is dire need to be re-evaluated for management effectiveness. Over the last few years HP has seen a significant decrease in sales reducing their shares substantially, had shareholders deny certain programs, were deemed to be worst pay offenders, and lead misguided compensation packages and board nomination processes. The management issues that have been affecting HP need to be evaluated and effective solutions need to be implemented in order to reverse the effects that have been preventing the success of this large organization.Since August of 2010 HP has went through 3 CEOs which can be a large management issue for a struggling company, with each leader bringing with them different views and values of what can revive the company. When there is confusion in the management system production can lack in performance, and the turnover rate can be increased due to organizational structure instability. Another issue that has affected HP is the decrease in sales that has caused the company to see a reduction in their annual revenue, causing a loss of close to $8 billion in revenues for the fiscal year of 2013 compared to the previous year (Takahashi, 2013). When the value of a company is decreasing it is always bad news, and with the constant changes in technology, this type of organization has to stay on top of the game or they will become the past for technology and companies providing the newest technology options will take their place. Deciding where to allocate funds in a company is a management responsibility, and in this type of organi.
