Each student must complete a 20 page research paper by the last day of classes. This paper
is to focus on a subject within medicine or human biology and include both background
information as well as at least one “case study” example of the condition or topic addressed
by the paper. The topic must be of specific interest or connection to the student, for example,
a condition that has affected a family member or friend. In addition to the main body of the
paper (20 pages), an abstract and title page and reference must also be included. The abstract should
overview the paper and include the rational for picking the subject. In short, what was the
motivation? No more than 3 pages of illustrations may be included and the paper must have
at least 5 “physical” references (not URL’s). It should be formatted in 12pt (Ariel, preferred
font) and have margins no larger than 0.75 inches (in any direction). Line spacing can be 1
or 1.5.
