Your task
As a management team of a hotel (in HOTELsim), you have been instructed by the owners to consider extending its facilities in order to improve overall profitability, market share, future growth and service quality of the hotel.
Prepare a report (Task1), a feasibility study (3,000 words maximum, excluding references and appendices), to measure market demand and to ascertain financial viability of the changes to the hotel that your management team proposes. Group report (FS) must focus on evaluation of strong points (qualities) and weak points (deficiencies) of their hotel. It will include market analysis, target segments and the 4Ps based on hotelsim data. MK301 part and AC301 analysis must be combined in the same parts of the report because this is a capstone project.
Your aim
The aim of this assignment will be for the student to demonstrate a generative learning process by reflecting on analytical skills and knowledge accumulated in previous topics covered. The student is expected to critically appraise and evaluate new data, synthesize independent thinking and demonstrate use of a range of techniques for analysis.
Your objectives
1. Evaluate marketing strategies and the market potential for the proposed extra facilities and services, based on an analysis of the market support for your lodging facility (HOTELsim).
2. Suggest appropriate number of extra guest rooms’ or/and other facilities, which would best serve the needs of the market.
3. Project levels of market share, occupancy, average room rate, revenue per available room and other key considerations for your hotel for the next five years of operations.
