Managing relationships in teams is an important skill for both your work in the courseroom and in the workplace. The teamwork activity in this unit gives you an opportunity to identify behaviors in team members and in yourself that are counterproductive. In this discussion, write about solutions to these types of behaviors. Select two of the following unhelpful behaviors and offer your ideas about how a team could avoid or resolve these behaviors if they occur during a virtual learning team activity.

Being aggressive: pushing too hard, dominating, and insisting on your own way.
Being a recognition seeker.
Blocking and resisting rather than clearly explaining reservations and proposed alternatives.
Being disruptive: making inappropriate jokes or remarks.
Harboring hidden agendas, manipulating, forming cliques, or acting in a self-serving manner.
Being passive and noncontributing.
Seeking sympathy with a poor-me attitude.
Complaining and criticizing.
Blaming others or making excuses.
Being competitive or inappropriately taking credit for group work.
To ensure your participation meets the expectations, refer to the GREAT Discussion and Feedback guidelines provided in the Resources.

Post your initial discussion (main post) by Thursday to allow time for your peers to respond.

Response Guidelines
After posting your initial response, read your peers’ posts. Respond to two of your peers. Are you in agreement about avoiding or resolving team-related issues? What technique works best for team communications? Could you work together on a team assignment in a future class? In addition, use examples to clarify your points and strengthen the discussion.

Post your two peer responses by Sunday; the discussion ends at midnight CT on Sunday.

Note: This is the last discussion that is graded per the guidelines in How Discussion Participation is Graded. The Unit 8–10 discussions have their own specific scoring guides related to the teamwork activity. If you would like to see them, they are posted in Unit 7 studies Optional section.
