Video Club Discussions – 50 points each

Discussion Post (40 points)

There will be management related videos assigned in this class, from 3 to 5 videos per discussion. You will be asked to reflect on what you learned from each video.

Question One: What strikes you as surprising in these videos? Why? According to the videos, which existing assumptions must be challenged?

Question Two: Discuss two common ideas or concepts in the videos that seem to be particularly significant to you. Why?

Question Three: What ideas are common to all of the videos and how do these videos relate to concepts you learned from the textbook?

Question Four: How do the videos relate to something in your own experience?

The minimum required length for each of the video club discussions is three pages or about 1200 words. Points will deducted for answers that are too brief or are not relevant or specific enough.

Four criteria will be used to evaluate the content of your essay:

An ability to communicate information in writing
An ability to demonstrate knowledge of management concepts and ideas
An ability to apply critical thinking skills to new and different problem settings
A knowledge of values and ethics in a global and social context

All reactions should be submitted via Discussion Board at Canvas, instructor will NOT grade emailed copies.

Responding to Others’ Discussions (10 points)

Watch posted videos and select three of your favorite introduction videos. Reply shortly to each describing how their post contributed to your learning, and/or any other comments. The individual responses need to be substantive enough to really question/add to the report’s topics and ideas. On this assignment and subsequent ones, please try NOT to post your responses very close to the response deadline as this may take you out of the class discussion by not giving others a chance to read and consider your input, and so diminish your contribution to classroom learning.

The attached rubric shows grading criteria for this discussion.
