2.Immigration
3.Health Care
4.Education
5.Homeland SecurityMaximum length: 4 pages, double-spaced. Additional material will not be evaluated. Do not use a font smaller than 10-pt. Citation format: APAAssignment: Your briefing for the candidate should include the following material, not necessarily in this order. Keep the description as brief as possible; focus the paper on the options and recommendation as well as counterarguments. The sections must flow together seamlessly in your final draft, although you may choose to use section headings.Description: What is the problem that government needs to solve? Be specific here ? this sets up the policy you recommend. Keep this part brief.Thesis: In one sentence, what do you recommend and why? PUT THESIS IN FIRST PARAGRAPH.Policy options: What are some policy options? Describe and evaluate the positive and negative aspects of at least three ? you may consider including a continuation of existing policy.Policy recommendation: Of the three, which policy do you recommend and why? Support your reasons with expert opinions and facts. While public opinion may be a relevant consideration, you must present other reasons as well. Do not use primarily moral or ethical justifications for this paper.Counterarguments: Are there any disadvantages to the option you recommend? What are some challenges that might make it difficult to implement? What evidence (facts, expert opinions) make you think that your option is still the best one? Answer any reasonable counterarguments with evidence.Sources Class Material and Your Own Research: The paper will be evaluated on how completely and effectively you use the relevant class readings and lectures in all sections of the paper. You should quote and cite the reading material that was assigned. Also find at least two sources not used in our class that add substantially to the evidence supporting your paper?s recommendation. Provide full citations for these sources and make sure they are published by a reputable organization. If you use material from a think tank or interest group, be sure it is a well-known organization, consider any possible bias, and attempt to balance it with an alternative point of view.
