Using one of the literary terms covered over the semester as a starting point, provide a close reading and structured analysis of a text or film of your choosing (this should not be something already covered in class, or from another English class). Use at least one secondary scholarly/academic source to inform your analysis or stimulate your discussion.
Your essay should be 1300-1500 words long and demonstrate a clear thesis. Although the literary term may prompt your discussion, it should not in itself be the topic of your essay; the essay must be on the text itself, with the term simply providing a narrower focus (so you don’t have to say everything there is to say about the work)! One reason for a narrower focus is to allow you to provide a detailed analysis. Remember to limit your summary to only what is necessary for the reader to follow your discussion.
