Chapter 12 of the book.

:  Your summary should accurately and objectively represent the authors purpose and main ideas in no less than two but no more than three full double-spaced pages. To achieve your purpose with your audience, use the following strategies in your summary:
    Introduce the text in the beginning of your summary so your readers know which text you are summarizing. Include the authors name, the title, the date of publication, and the publication title within the first few sentences;
    Focus on the writers arguments by reporting the texts thesis and key points. Show that you understand the big picturethe writers purpose and how he achieves or supports it;
    Avoid relying too much on quotes or evidence that is too specific so you can focus on the overall argument;
    Use author tags/attribution so that your reader understands that you are reporting the authors ideas;
    Use an objective tone and an even mix of paraphrased and quoted source material.
