Look at the marking guide. 80% of the marks are for Content. 30% of the marks are for ?Identification & examination of key events?. 20% is for ?professional issues? & another 20% is for ?legal issues?. 10% is allocated to ?reference to governing nursing codes, documents & policies?. Take this into account with regards to the effort & number of words you put into these issues.
If you look at the task description it asks you to ?identify & examine the role of the Registered Nurse (RN Green)?. You need to go through the case study & identify what they have done right & wrong (mostly wrong I would assume). As a starting point, this is about basic post-operative nursing care, common post-operative complications, the need for good nursing documentation, & nursing professional standards. Many of the reference sources could be in undergraduate nursing textbooks on fundamentals of nursing & medical-surgical nursing.
You presumably need to consider what should have been the appropriate nursing care. Consider what might be the extenuating circumstances? Why did it go wrong? How might we learn from this, & stop it occurring again? Mr White could have died. Was the breach of care serious enough to justify notifying the professional bodies, or could/should it be handled in-house in the hospital?
