Dear Students,
A Mid-term Essay consisting of a work of film criticism about a single film will be due by e-mail no later than Thursday October 27th. Please e-mail it as a Microsoft Word document. In this case, 2500 words will be the absolute minimum but you may write as much as you need. Use one or several approaches to film criticism, including considerations of authorship, genre membership, national origin, etc. You may discuss any and all elements of film style such as cinematography, editing, use of sound and music, mise-en-scene, etc. Disregard any film already viewed or discussed in class, and choose one that has meaning to you and that you consider particularly accomplished and interesting. It may be a good idea to tell me what you have in mind before you commit to it. This essay and the final one are the most important aspects of our course. The essays, especially the final one, should reflect a richer perspective on cinema you’ve acquired as a student in this class.
Thanks,
( I’ve attached the defentions and terms we must use)
